Herbalife Partners With the Special Olympics to Celebrate the Champion in All of Us

Imagine living in a world without limits, where all hearts are open to the potential of every person’s talents.

Herbalife believes in supporting people with the tools they need to be the best they can be. That’s why the company has partnered with the 2015 Special Olympics World Games to be held in Los Angeles, from July 25 to August 2, 2015.

“The Special Olympics empowers and encourages those with intellectual disabilities to dream big, work hard and stay determined, even when the going gets tough,” says Herbalife Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael O. Johnson. “We are proud to be a Games Supplier and to partner with an organization that embodies the positive impact of living a healthy, active life, and reflects our vision of positively changing people’s lives. We are excited to play our part in such an important event.”

Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, every day around the world. It empowers people with special needs to discover new strengths, skills, confidence and success. Special Olympics strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. Using sports as the catalyst and programming around health and education, Special Olympics promotes activity and opportunity for all of their athletes.

“Eunice Kennedy Shriver founded the Special Olympics believing she could change the lives of people through the power of sports, and it starts with good health, self-confidence, courage and determination,” says Patrick McClenahan, President and CEO of the 2015 Special Olympics World Games. “That little vision of hers has resulted in the largest sports organization in the world, with over 4 million athletes in over 180 countries around the world.”

In its role as a Games Supplier, Herbalife will support the Special Olympics World Games participants and attendees, providing 300,000 nutrition bars to athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers, families and honored guests at all sports venues and general dining areas. Herbalife® Formula 1 Express Meal Bars will display the Special Olympics logo on all cartons until December 2015, in markets where bars are available globally; and the Herbalife Nutrition logo will be displayed at all the games venues, including opening and closing ceremonies. Additionally, Herbalife’s Los Angeles Distribution Center in Carson will serve as the organizing committee’s Uniform Distribution and Credentialing Center (UDAC) and volunteer registration hub.

“Herbalife is changing the world through its products, and now it’s going to change the lives of people with intellectual disabilities throughout the world,” says McClenahan.

The Special Olympics World Games will feature 25 Olympic-style sports in venues throughout the Los Angeles region. The Opening Ceremony, to be held on July 25, 2015, is expected to attract 80,000 spectators to the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, site of the 1932 and 1984 Olympic Games.

“The Special Olympics World Games will be the largest sports and humanitarian event in the world in 2015, and we’re quite confident it’ll be the most inspirational of all time,” says McClenahan.

There is a champion within all of us. Herbalife is proud to be involved with the Special Olympics and salutes those that dream big, work hard and inspire others.
